Saved for a rainy day…

On Saturday it rained. Like, really rained… Cold torrential downpours all day long, without a break. I was due at the beach for a shoot with a lovely family which despite being nearly June, just wasn’t going to happen! So with a day freed up to spend with my beautiful daughter and an itchy trigger finger I thought I’d do a mini photoshoot with her under the skylights upstairs. Poor sleepy thing, she’s been teething like mad (only half a tooth through so far!) and was wanting to nap all day, but her nasty photographer mother managed to squeeze a few minutes of pictures out of her before she flopped in a big heap and needed another snooze! I’m hoping she’ll forgive me in the short term and thank me for it when she’s all grown up and has lots of lovely baby pictures…

I had the great pleasure of photographing Marianne and her daughter Jenneke in the heart of Edinburgh. We had a fantastic time, they just laughed and giggled the whole shoot, both have such fantastic bubbly personalities. Thanks for a great time and for rolling with all of my wacky ideas! Spring has finally sprung!

Could it be that spring weather has actually finally hit Scotland?! It’s days like yesterday when I remember why I really love my job. I headed out to ‘the office’ – Yellowcraigs beach at Dirleton – in glorious sunshine for a fab family shoot with the Mackenzies! Such a lovely family, the kids Katie and Andrew were total stars and kept me both amused and on my toes! Thanks to you all for a great morning out at the beach…

Baby Theo: Made with love…

My lovely friends Kate and David have just had their beautiful wee baby Theo! Very exciting, I’m so happy for them both, they’re such wonderful people and now fantastic parents! They’ve been such great friends, have supported me through thick and thin, and I’m just so pleased that they’re now a family! Just before the wee man made his way into the world I enjoyed a walk in the botanic gardens with them both, to capture a few portraits just before the main event…

Not long afterwards (but 16 days overdue!) baby Theo arrived, pure perfection in a wee bundle – a gorgeous blondie like Kate, with massive hands just like his dad – just beautiful! Kate was a star, she had a fantastic birth, kept lovely and calm and brought Theo into this world safely within a matter of hours. I felt very honoured to be invited along to see them all just a couple of hours after he was born. Theo had developed an infection on his lungs and so spent his first week in the special baby unit at neonatal care but Kate and David kept smiling, just pleased to meet their baby at last…

One week on they were home, for some much deserved peace and quiet and some quality time with their wee sausage… Congratulations Kate and David, I couldn’t be happier for you! Love you both, and baby Theo is just beautiful!

Double trouble…

My daughter Rose now has a wee pal to push around – cousin Phoebe! I’m sure they’ll get up to lots of mischief together in the future, watch this space for high jinks and nonsense… Their first photoshoot together went well, although Rosie kept eating Phoebe’s hand, and then Phoebe tried to bite Rosie’s nose… Hmmm…I’m sure they love each other really…

Harry and Rory…

I was out in the beautiful countryside in Dollar recently, to photograph Andrew and Rachel with their delightful wee boys Harry and Rory. I first met them (minus Rory!) back in October 2011, when I photographed them and the rest of the extended family at the beach, great fun… Lovely to see how Harry is getting on and to meet his gorgeous new baby brother! Thanks Andrew and Rachel for a great shoot, it was fantastic to meet up with you again…

With spring being so late this year and our sunny days so few and far between, I was delighted to be headed out on a lovely morning to photograph the beautiful Abby, with parents Rob and Jen… This was our second shoot together as Abby was a bit off colour last time we met, so it was fantastic to see this cheeky wee character in full health and full of beans!

Welcome to the world beautiful baby Phoebe! My gorgeous niece was born mid March, a bonny wee redhead with a lovely temperament! She’s such a wee sweetie – congratulations Chloe and Ryan!!! I’m over the moon for them, she’s such a bundle of joy and they make cracking parents! At one month old she’s already a total smiler – it’s not just wind I promise! She grinned her way through her first proper photo session, smiling, gurning and giving gorgeous big eyes to the camera throughout! She’s a natural…

I had a wonderful time on friday photographing a beautiful little girl called Francesca. There’s a lovely timeless quality to her, something classic about her face with her lovely elfin hair and she was just the sweetest thing on the shoot, lots of giggles and serious pouts, she charmed me as soon as I was through the door! As the family are up on holiday from The Isle of Wight the shoot has been in the diary for a very long time and so it was great to finally meet Mandy and her daughter. Thank you all for a wonderful afternoon and I’ll hope to see you all again in the summer for more pictures!

Check out this beautiful little girl – Abby has such gorgeous peepers and a crazy mop of hair – love it! On the morning of the shoot she was a bit of a poorly girl, but she still managed to pull out the smiles and there’s some sweet shots of this wee poppet….Watch out for round two when she’s on top form again…

Marine Lodge…

I had the real pleasure of photographing stunning holiday property Marine Lodge, based in sunny North Berwick, just a stones thrown from the beach. Such a gorgeous place to stay, beautifully refurbished by owners Andrew and Jo, they’ve done such a fabulous job of making the apartment a warm and welcoming place. I had a great time photographing the house, although Andrew and Jo were so friendly and chatty that I had to banish them from the room after a while, just so I could take some pictures! Pincers at dawn…

Rose has spent the last week perfecting her finger and thumb pincer action, grabbing everything she can get her hands on with the most intricate movements. Lovely to see but it’s not always a good thing… I curled Rosie into bed with me this morning to try and get a bit more sleep after her pre-dawn chorus, only to be woken from my doze by her systematically trying to extract each of my eyelashes, one by one…

There’s nothing like a bit of eye gouging and plucking to get me up in the morning! I’m afraid I didn’t have the camera to hand for that particularly wonderful moment, I could barely focus my own peepers, but here’s a few shots of her later on practising her movements for more pincers at dawn tomorrow…

Good job she’s cute, otherwise she’d be out the door! Loving the evening sunlight coming through the bedroom window tonight..

I had a cracking morning this week photographing the absolute heartbreaker Marcus, six months old to the day and about as cheery as you can get! So many smiles, such lovely big eyes, I took far too many pictures as he was such a contented wee soul. He’s not quite sitting yet so we had lots of fun balancing him upright for a few seconds to squeeze in a few shots before he face planted on the duvet! He loved it, smiled for Scotland and took everything in his stride. Poor wee man was so tuckered out by all the grinning, he dropped off for a snooze – which made for some beautiful sleeping shots…

Catching a glimpse of my daughters tiny feet after a bath just breaks my heart. So beautiful, so perfect. They’ll be brand new and lovely until she takes her first few steps and starts to wear them in. I can see why Rosie is obsessed with them and loves to hold them always… I feel the same way.

Well, I’m back behind the lens again after my break for maternity leave and loving it! On Saturday I was busy photographing handsome wee man Ruan – thirteen months old, just toddling along and such a lovely character. He had lots of gummy smiles to give and after some colourful shots indoors we headed out to the Meadows, where he was pleased as punch to be out motoring around in his wee vintage car! Admittedly he didn’t get very far, but it was very sweet to see. Thanks Katie and Craig for a fun morning, lovely to meet you all…

Eight months old…

My beautiful wee girl is nearly eight months old and it’s such a lovely stage. Gorgeous and cheruby, all rosy pink cheeks, long lashes, gummy thumb sucking and plump legs, I just had to capture just a little of this scrumptious stage before Rose is all grown up and causing havoc! Love, love, love that girl…

After an energetic shoot this morning my little model was all tuckered out and ready for a decent snooze….
